Who we are

Steel Point Engineering provides structural steel fabrication, installation, welding, repairs and skilled labour hire across Perth and Western Australia. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through https://steelpointengineering.com.au, and it applies to that website only.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

When you submit the quote form or a quick enquiry, we collect:

  • Your name and, if you provide it, your company name
  • Your phone number and email address
  • The project address or suburb
  • Details about the work: service required, description, project type, stage and timing
  • Whether you have drawings, and any files you choose to attach (drawings, plans, photos, documents)
  • Your preferred contact method and time
  • For labour hire enquiries: the roles, worker numbers and duration you need

We also automatically collect the page you enquired from, the site that referred you, and any campaign tracking parameters in the link you arrived on (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, gclid, fbclid). This tells us which advertising actually produces enquiries.

We do not collect payment details through this website, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act.

Why we collect it and how we use it

We use the information you send us to:

  • Respond to your enquiry, ask any follow-up questions and prepare a quote
  • Arrange a site measure and carry out the work if you go ahead
  • Contact you about your job using the method and at the time you nominated
  • Keep records of quotes and jobs, as required for our business and tax obligations
  • Measure how well our advertising works, in aggregate

We only send marketing messages where you have consented or where it is permitted under the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), and every message includes an unsubscribe option.

We do not sell your information

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the business, and only for that purpose:

  • GoHighLevel: our customer relationship management system, which stores your enquiry and helps us follow it up
  • Our website and file hosting providers: which store this site and any files you attach
  • Analytics and advertising platforms: Google and Meta, as described below
  • Professional advisers or authorities: where we are required to disclose information by law

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By submitting the form you consent to that overseas disclosure.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel. These set cookies and collect information about how you use the site: pages viewed, buttons and phone links clicked, and whether you submitted an enquiry. We use it to understand which marketing works and to improve the site.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on and adjust ad personalisation in your Google and Meta account settings. Blocking cookies will not stop you using this site or submitting an enquiry.

How we store and protect it

Files you attach are stored in access-controlled cloud storage and are reachable only through a long, randomly generated link. Enquiry details are stored in our CRM behind password protection. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, then delete or de-identify it.

No system is perfectly secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will look into it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
