Industrial
Billet Ledge
A billet ledge with hardened steel billets welded on as wear protection, keeping material moving through the chute. Fitted in a confined space with a torch for light.
What We Do
Steel fabrication, repairs and replacement on mine sites and in shutdown windows. The work is scoped backwards from the window you have, because on a shutdown the date is the specification.
The Work
Ordinary fabrication is quoted on scope. Shutdown work is quoted on scope and a hard stop, because the plant starts again whether the steel is finished or not. That changes how a job is planned: as much as possible gets fabricated before the window opens, so the hours on site are spent installing rather than measuring, cutting and waiting on material.
Confined space, working at height and hot works are the normal conditions rather than the exception, so they are priced and planned in rather than discovered on the day. See mobile welding for on-site welding and industrial fabrication for the shop side.
How It Runs
The sequence below starts well before the shutdown, because that is where a shutdown is actually won or lost. By the time the plant stops, the steel should already exist.
Photos, drawings and a measure-up before the window, so the fabrication can start early. Anything we can measure hot, we measure hot.
What is fabricated beforehand, what happens inside the window, and what has to be decided by when. Quotes back within 48 hours.
Built and fitted up in the workshop, and where the fit is uncertain, built with adjustment in it rather than assuming the measure was perfect.
Inductions, permits, JSAs, isolations and lift plans sorted before the window rather than during it. Tell us your site's requirements early.
Nights and weekends where the window demands it, with the crew sized to the hours available rather than to the cheapest quote.
Cleaned up, coatings made good where they were burnt off, walked through with your supervisor, documentation on request.
Your Side Of It
None of this has to be sorted before you enquire. But on shutdown work the detail that surfaces late is the one that costs a night, so the earlier we know, the tighter the quote.
When the window opens and closes, and whether it can move. It changes the crew, the shifts and how much gets fabricated up front.
Which inductions, tickets and permits your site requires, and how long they take to obtain. This is the most common cause of a late start.
Height, confined space, live plant nearby, and what lifting is available. It determines the crew, the gear and the method.
Existing drawings if they exist, and photos if they do not. A photo of the failed component is often more useful than the original drawing.
Whether the repair needs engineering sign-off, and who inspects before the plant restarts. We will tell you if we think it does.
We are fully insured and licensed. Insurance certificates, material and welding documentation are available on request.
Who It's For
Steel scopes that have to land inside a planned shutdown, quoted against the dates rather than against an open timeframe.
Overflow fabrication and on-site steel crews when your own shop is already committed. See skilled labour hire.
Work across Western Australia, fabricated in Perth and transported, which is usually cheaper than fabricating on a remote site.
Mining and shutdown work travels across Western Australia, including regional and remote sites. See the areas we cover.
Proof
Our own photographs, on our own jobs. Each one describes what is in the picture and what work of that type takes.

Custom Metalwork

Where
Shutdown work takes us out of Perth: mine sites and processing plants across Western Australia, on the dates the shutdown gives us. Fabrication still happens in the Perth workshop wherever it can, because a part made and checked before mobilisation is a part that cannot hold up the window.
