Structural steel is the load path of the building, so it is the one component that has to be right to the millimetre. Everything we fabricate is made for the opening, span or frame it is going into, measured on site where the structure already exists, and cut from your engineer's drawings where it doesn't.

1. Scope and drawings
You send the job through. We come back with questions, not silence: connection details, finish, and what else is landing on site at the same time.

2. Site measure
Free on-site measure where there is existing structure to work to, so the steel fits first time instead of coming back for rework.

3. Written quote and program
A description of works and a realistic fabrication timeframe, so you can book the crane and the trades either side of us.

4. Workshop fabrication
Cut, drilled, welded and assembled to drawing in controlled workshop conditions, to correct tolerances, and checked before it leaves.

5. Finish and delivery
Prepared or finished as specified, then delivered to site for the agreed date, or straight into our own install.

6. Installation, if you want it
The same crew that fabricated it can erect it, see structural steel installation, so there is no gap between the shop and the site for your program to fall into.

What We Need From You.
None of this has to be complete before you enquire. It is the list we will work through with you, so you can see what a fabrication quote is actually built on. If you are sending a request for quote for a company, include the company name, your project reference and the date you need the quote back.

Drawings or a description
The latest revision of the engineering drawings, and a steel or member schedule with quantities where you have one. Tell us whether it is preliminary or tender information, or issued for construction. If full drawings are not available, send a description of the job so we can confirm what is needed for a quote.

Site access
How the finished steel gets to where it has to sit: gate widths, rear access, upper floors, overhead services, and where a truck or crane can stand.

Program dates
Two dates, kept separate: when you need the quote back, and when the steel is needed on site, with what is booked around it. We'll say upfront if we can't meet either one.

Scope and steel supply
Fabrication only, fabrication and delivery to site, or fabrication and installation, and whether we are supplying the steel or working from material you have already procured. Any of these is fine; each changes the quote.

Finish and connections
Galvanised, primed, painted or bare, and whether connections are bolted or site-welded. If the drawings don't say, we'll ask.

Paperwork you need back
List any supplier onboarding, inspection, material traceability or handover documents your company needs from a fabricator, and send them with the enquiry. We'll confirm what we can provide before an order is placed.

Steel Point Engineering are structural steel fabricators working from one Perth workshop, and our own crew installs the steel. Most of the beams, columns and frames we make go into metro jobs, and the rest travel out to regional WA and mine sites. Nothing is subcontracted out between the shop and the site.

Yes. Engineering drawings and a steel schedule are ideal, and we fabricate to them. Without drawings we quote from a site measure and tell you what engineering sign-off your job will need.
Can you fabricate from steel I have already bought?
Yes. We can supply and fabricate, or work from material you have already procured. Tell us which at enquiry, because it changes the quote.
What finish does fabricated steel come in?
Galvanised, primed, painted or bare. Protective treatment is specified with the quote rather than left to assumption, because it affects how the steel is detailed and drilled.
How long a member can you fabricate?

How should builders compare structural steel fabrication quotes?
Compare quotes against the same drawing revision, member quantities and specified finish. Check whether each scope includes steel supply, fabrication, delivery and installation, and who is responsible for crane or access equipment. Read the exclusions and any work left to the builder. Confirm fabrication lead time, the required on-site date and how long the quote remains valid. If the scopes differ, ask for clarification before comparing the totals.
