What We Do

Welding Services In Perth

Fabrication welding, structural repairs and modifications, done in the shop where the conditions are controlled and the weld can be checked properly before it ships. If the steel cannot leave site, that is mobile welding, and it has its own page.

The Work

Welded In Controlled Conditions.

Work that can come to the workshop should. The piece gets rotated to suit the weld rather than the welder contorting to reach it, the conditions are controlled, and it gets checked properly before it ships. That is a better weld for less money. Work that cannot move is mobile welding, and the same welders do both.

  • Fabrication welding to drawing
  • Structural repairs and strengthening
  • Modifications and alterations to existing steel
  • Corroded and load-bearing members
  • Plate, bracket and cleat work
  • On-site welding of installed steelwork

Welding certificates and documentation are available on request. Tell us which standard your job has to be signed off against.

Tell us the specification and the material and we'll confirm the process, the welder qualifications and whether the job suits the workshop or the mobile rig.

How It Runs

Workshop Welding, Start To Finish.

Most workshop welding runs inside a normal fabrication job, see structural steel fabrication. Welding on its own, on steel you already have or steel we did not make, runs like this.

  1. 1. Drawings or photos

Send the drawing if there is one, photos if there is not, and tell us the material. Most jobs can be quoted from that alone.

  2. 2. Confirm the standard

Which welding standard the job has to be signed off against, and whether anyone needs certificates at the end of it.

  3. 3. Written quote

A description of works plus a realistic timeframe.

  4. 4. Prepare and fit up

Cut back, cleaned, edges prepared and the assembly fitted up and checked before any structural weld goes in.

  5. 5. Weld and check

Welded with the piece positioned to suit the joint, then inspected before it leaves the shop rather than after it is installed.

  6. 6. Finish and deliver

Cleaned back, primed, painted or sent for galvanising as quoted, then delivered or ready for collection.

Cannot get the steel to us? Mobile welding covers the permits, the fire watch and the on-site process.

Your Side Of It

What We Need From You.

None of this has to be sorted before you enquire. But these are the answers that turn an estimate into a firm price, so the sooner we have them the tighter the quote.

  • Drawings, or photos and dimensions

What is being welded and to what. A marked-up photo with a couple of measurements is often enough to quote from.

  • The material

Mild steel, stainless, aluminium or galvanised, and the section sizes. It decides the process, the consumables and the preparation.

  • The standard it answers to

Any weld procedure or standard your project, engineer or insurer requires, and whether certificates are needed at handover.

  • How many, and how often

A one-off, a batch, or something you will reorder. Repeat work is set up differently and usually priced better.

  • The finish, and where it ends up

Bare, primed, painted or galvanised, and whether it lives outside, in a wash-down area or in a dry workshop.

  • Paperwork you need back

We are fully insured and licensed. Insurance certificates and welding documentation are available on request.

Where

Welding Services Across Perth And WA

Workshop welding happens in one place: the Steel Point workshop in Perth, where the conditions are controlled and the weld can be checked properly before it ships. Steel comes in from across the metro area and from regional WA. If the steel cannot leave your job, that is mobile welding, and it goes to you instead.

Questions

Straight Answers.

Can I bring steel to your workshop to be welded?

Yes, and work that can come to the workshop should. The piece gets rotated to suit the weld rather than the welder contorting to reach it, the conditions are controlled, and it is checked before it ships. That is a better weld for less money.

Will you weld steel you did not fabricate?

Yes. Welding on its own, on steel you already have or steel we did not make, is a job in its own right and runs through the same six steps.

What material can you weld?

Tell us the material and the section sizes, mild steel, stainless, aluminium or galvanised, and we'll confirm the process, the welder qualifications and whether the job suits the workshop or the mobile rig. The material decides the process, the consumables and the preparation.

Can you provide welding certificates?

Welding certificates and documentation are available on request. Tell us at quote stage which standard your job has to be signed off against and whether anyone needs certificates at the end of it.

Should my job be welded in the workshop or on site?

If the steel can travel, the workshop is usually cheaper and the weld is easier to control. If it cannot, that is mobile welding and it has its own page. We will tell you honestly which way round your job should go.
